Stronger Together Vol. 1 — Finding Our People

Event description:

The first Stronger Together community gathering created an informal and welcoming space for Indonesian LGBTQIA+ people and friends to connect, share food and get to know one another. Designed as a wellbeing-focused potluck rather than a conventional entertainment event, the gathering encouraged participants to slow down, talk and share their experiences in a relaxed environment without loud music or structured performances.

What we achieved:

Participants shared personal stories, experiences of living in Australia and reflections on community and belonging. Sharing homemade and culturally familiar food helped create an accessible setting for conversation and connection. The gathering strengthened relationships between existing members while welcoming people who were newer to IQC, reinforcing the importance of regular, low-pressure spaces where community members can simply spend time together.
