IQC Open House — Tumpeng for Tomorrow

Event description:

IQC Open House brought together Indonesian LGBTQIA+ community members, creative individuals, volunteers and representatives from Sydney organisations including the City of Sydney, ACON, RACS, Rainbow Giving Australia and Qtopia Sydney. Centred around the Indonesian tradition of sharing tumpeng, the event used food, conversation and creative performances to introduce IQC, celebrate Indonesian queer culture and create connections between community members and the wider arts, cultural and community sector.

What we achieved:

The Open House created a shared table where community members, creatives and organisational stakeholders could meet outside formal institutional settings. Through sharing tumpeng, performances and informal conversations, participants exchanged stories, developed new connections and learned more about IQC’s community and cultural work. The event strengthened IQC’s relationships within Sydney’s LGBTQIA+, multicultural and creative sectors while providing Indonesian queer creatives with a platform to share their culture and artistic expression.
