About the event
Event description:
Indonesian Queer and That Unicorn was IQC’s 2025 pre-Mardi Gras celebration, bringing Indonesian queer performers and community members together during Sydney’s Mardi Gras season. The event showcased Indonesian queer creativity through live singing, drag performances and a talk show exploring the experiences of living in Australia as an Indonesian queer person.
What we achieved:
The event sold out, demonstrating strong interest in Indonesian queer arts, stories and community spaces in Sydney. By combining performance with open conversation, the event provided a platform for Indonesian queer artists and voices while creating opportunities for audiences to connect through shared cultural and lived experiences. It strengthened Indonesian queer visibility during Mardi Gras season and celebrated the community beyond the parade itself.
