Haus of Rempong (Pre-Mardi Gras Party)

Event description:

Haus of Rempong was IQC’s pre-Mardi Gras celebration, bringing the Indonesian queer community, friends and wider Sydney LGBTQIA+ community together during the Mardi Gras season. The evening combined Indonesian queer performance, music, storytelling and social connection in a relaxed party setting, creating a space where participants could openly celebrate both cultural and LGBTQIA+ identities.

What we achieved:

The sold-out event created a visible Indonesian queer presence during Sydney’s Mardi Gras season and strengthened connections between Indonesian community members and the wider LGBTQIA+ community. Through performance, storytelling, music and informal social interaction, participants celebrated culture and identity together in an accessible nightlife setting. The event also raised funds to support IQC’s volunteer-led cultural and community activities.
